New Hosted Site at Tycoon Resource
Posted Monday, April 30, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Tycoon Resource has just posted news about a new site being hosted there. It's Zeke's Greatest Game Photos. It has tons of drawings and animations for all kinds of rollercoaster stuff.

If you need hosting for your 'Tycoon' site, be sure to check out the Get Hosted page at Tycoon Resource.

RCTUK gets a slogan
Posted Monday, April 30, 2001 by Red Phoenix

It appears as though the Slogan contest has ended, and all of the results are up on Rollercoaster Tycoon UK. The winner was Rustling & Bustling with Visitors Since April 1999, which was sent in by Steve Shepard. You can view the complete results on their site.

Quick Update
Posted Monday, April 30, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Well, here's one more update for the day. The link to J-Land (saved game) has been fixed. Also, World of Legends has been updated. Be sure to check them both out at the link below.

One more note on saved games. From now on, I'm going to leave the image next to the new parks for a few days, so, if you don't come to the site one day, you can see what exactly is new.

Updates lately
Posted Monday, April 30, 2001 by Red Phoenix

You may have noticed that the past few days haven't had much in terms of major updates. I apologize for this, but some things have come up, and I must tend to them. I've also got some PC hardware to work on, so I've got a lot of data to transfer.

This week should, if all things go well, feature a new Real World Track Pack by Steve Franks and a bunch of saved games. I'm really getting behind in that department, which leads me to my next point.

My Inbox is really getting loaded with submissions, whether it be tracks or saved games. Saved games will be put up first, by the way. Due to the sheer number of submissions I have, I've been forced to reject a lot of parks. If your park isn't 'up to grade', you will receive an email telling you this once I've had time to review your park.

Drippings From The Brain of Greg Wolking
Posted Monday, April 30, 2001 by Red Phoenix

It's always good news when I hear that Steve Franks and Greg Wolking have teamed up to make more additions to that section of articles, and we've got another one. Today's addition is a piece on Coaster Brakes. You should be able to learn a lot on the braking system, as well as get a few tips. This is a highly recommended addition.

RCT Station Chat
Posted Saturday, April 28, 2001 by Red Phoenix

A chat room has been begged for by several members, so Phil has made a temporary one. I've been against the whole chat idea, but if it works out, who knows what'll happen, but I'd prefer that you use the message boards.

Anywho, back to the chat. In order to view the chat room, go to http://clevermedia.com/game.cgi?cleverchat. In the "Private Room" thing, enter "RCT Station Chat" as the room. The chat room will be open 24 hours a day, so just about anyone can come in.

Please keep in mind that this is only a trial thing, and we'll see how things work out. You might even see a few of the RCT Station staff members in there, and do try to use your forum name so everyone knows who you are.

What makes an Exciting Flat Ride?
Posted Friday, April 27, 2001 by Red Phoenix

I've pondered that question before, and I'm sure many of you have as well. Fortunately, Victor Davis and Marc Broom have just written up a wonderful article explaining almost all you ever needed to know about Flat Rides and how the Excitement levels work on those rides.

Just recently, Rollercoaster Tycoon UK celebrated their second birthday. They also had a special chat session. Not only that, but they just set up a new saved games section. I wish them the best of luck with the site!

New Loopy Landscapes Fantasy Games
Posted Tuesday, April 24, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Looks like we got two updates in for today, and this one is a good one. To be more specific, there are four new Loopy Landscapes fantasy games. As always, look for the image to signify that it's a new addition.

Hang in there, we'll see if we can get them up...AGAIN.

Emerald Point Amusement Park
Posted Sunday, April 22, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Mike Robbins has finally come up with a new park. It's been a very long time since his last one, which was Virginia Historic Park. I'm sure many of you will enjoy Mike's latest creation. Keep in mind that you must have Loopy Landscapes to view it.

Ogre's Ogrewood Parks
Posted Thursday, April 19, 2001 by Ogre

Ogre is going to be putting up his very own themed RCT parks that he is very proud of. Each one of them has been handcrafted by the Ogre to be well laid out with good rides. There are plenty of rides in each one and plenty of places for guests to take in the scenery. They are probably not as cool as Mike Robbin's parks but never the less I think they are pretty neat to look at, hehe. Anyway I should be putting that section up very soon that is if Red doesn't mind.

300 Member Mark!
Posted Thursday, April 19, 2001 by Red Phoenix

I'm proud to announce that our forums have reached the 300 member mark. Growing daily, the RCT Station community is one of the most civil and helpful communities out there, especially of this size.

If you have questions or run into a problem, be sure to ask for help on our forums. I almost guarantee that someone can answer your question(s), so don't be shy. Not only can you ask questions, but we'd love to have you help answer other people's questions, so stop by and say Hi.

Updates
Posted Monday, April 16, 2001 by Red Phoenix

I suppose you folks were a bit disappointed that there weren't any weekend updates. I have to admit that things haven't been going too well around here. Several issues involving the future of this site have come up, and they must be worked out, as I'm sure many of you don't want to see RCT Station become another RCT site to go down the tubes.

It would be appreciated if you supported myself and the site on the forums, and tell me what you think of the site and what direction you would like to see the site go in, if it should continue.

Due to the various problems, I cannot guarantee too much for updates this week, but I'll try to pop in once in a while.

New Poll
Posted Monday, April 16, 2001 by Red Phoenix

If you haven't noticed, Ogre has added the new poll the other day. I'd love to see all of these new track features in a future RCT game, but we'll have to wait and see.

I've also fixed the poll. One of the answers was from the old poll, which was up for an extra week.

Mine Trains
Posted Monday, April 16, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Family Coasters
Posted Wednesday, April 11, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Family Coasters is the latest masterpiece by Steve Franks. Steve took a slightly different approach when doing this pack. Typically, you'll find him searching for info for either one of the new, big, and popular steel coasters or for info for an old and very popular woodie. This one is very different. Kiddie coasters are the name of the game here. These are one of the kinds of coasters you don't typically see in many of the mega parks. We must have coasters for the little peeps in our parks too.

Server Issues
Posted Tuesday, April 10, 2001 by Red Phoenix

As you have noticed, we've had a lot of problems with our host during the past few months, and it's really been bad lately. Losing the forums for almost 24 hours was just horrible, and the very, very slow loading times of the pages is really getting to us, and I know how all of you folks feel, especially those of you who don't have Broadband. We'll hopefully get the server problems worked out in upcoming weeks in one way or another. I'll keep you posted as the story develops...

It turns out that we're not the only ones with problems. Tycoon Resource is having problems with their server counting the downloads for the site. This may not sound like a huge problem, but Carrie, Tycoon Resource's Webmaster, will not be updating until Wednesday. Be sure to check out their big Wednesday update.

Forums are Back
Posted Monday, April 9, 2001 by Red Phoenix

They may be back, but they're not quite perfect. When you post in one of the forums, it should (hopefully) set the forum back to normal. The majority of the posts are back, so we didn't lose many.

Your profiles may have some problems, however. If you're having probems logging in, email me, and tell me your user name. Unfortunately, I haven't backed up the forums this week, so this kind of hurt us a bit.

The topic and post counter at the top of the forums is slightly off as well. Hopefully, Rail can fix that for us soon.

I don't think there will be another update today. Getting the forums back to the current status was a big enough of a pain. So, expect a large update tomorrow, as well as a new Real World Track Pack later this week!

New Interviews Section
Posted Tuesday, April 3, 2001 by Red Phoenix

To add one more new feature to the site, I've started an Interviews section. On this page, you can read interviews done by RCT Station's Staff with various people involved in RCT, whether it be in game design or a webmaster of a fan site.

To start off this section, I have done a quick interview with RCT Fan Site Webmaster, Chocobogo. Below is a brief clip.

Red Phoenix:
Where did your first hear about Hasbro's Rollercoaster Tycoon?

Chocobogo:
I read a preview in a Computer Game Mag, and I thought it looked
great.  I later received a demo disk and within 5 minutes of playing
the demo I decided to buy the full game!

New Parks
Posted Tuesday, April 3, 2001 by Red Phoenix

I sent up two new downloads. The first one is a bit different. Instead of posting a dozen or so separate parks, I've bundled all of the JPark saved games into one, large download. The second download is Four Corners of the Earth.

Forum Changes
Posted Monday, April 2, 2001 by Red Phoenix

I worked on the forums for a little bit. I've added two new moderators (Madman & Water Monkey) to help out with our growing community. I've also added three new forums. They all concern the scenarios in all three versions of RCT. This will help out in a large project I will work on for the site sometime in the future, so hopefully, these forums will help everyone out. Remember that you can share your tips and strategies for any of the scenarios, and you will be helping out a lot of people.
