A Frequently Asked Question is addressed
Posted Wednesday, February 28, 2001 by Red Phoenix

I have to say that the most commonly asked question I receive, whether it's on the forums or in email, concerns the "Invalid Data" message that people get when attempting to view saved games. In an attempt to eliminate that question, it's now been posted on the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page.

Wednesday is your last day to get your contest entry in. So, hurry up, folks. More information on the contest can be found on the contest page.

There won't be a March contest, just so you know. I'll be busy working on additional things for the site, so that'll keep me more than busy, and they'll keep you as busy as well (hint, hint).

Ogre has finished putting up tons of new track files. A new section of with water coasters was added as well. Note that these are under water rides and not roller coaster like some may think. Please keep sending more files in and I will add them as I have time.

Testudo's Freestate Amusement Park is finally on the site. It's a terrific download, which features several custom tunes for the park. I must warn you that the file is a bit large.

Forums Are Fixed
Posted Sunday, February 18, 2001 by Ogre

Ogre forgot to post on RCT Station that the forums should be fully fixed. Railwolf our resident CGI wolf has fixed them. You should be able to post new messages. There will be some big changes happening soon to the forums. Don't worry though, nothing will be lost.

Upcoming...
Posted Friday, February 16, 2001 by Red Phoenix

I'm going to work on a "Wishlist" page for the site in the next week or two. If you have an idea for something you'd like to see in a future RCT game, email me.

One other thing I'll be accepting is drawings. If you can make a drawing of your idea(s), scan the image, and send it to me. This helps out the folks who may not quite understand what you mean by your idea. I mean, not everyone is a "coaster genius". If you don't have a scanner, see if a friend or close relative does.

Big Update
Posted Friday, February 16, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Here's an update I've been looking forward to for a few days now. I've finally got the Download counter script on most (all but 1 or 2) of the pages. This took some effort.

I've also added 21 new tracks to the site. I know for a fact that that's something many of you have been looking forward to. Due to all of the changes with the download counter script, there may be some bad links. If you find one, please report it to either Ogre or myself. Changing 200+ links is bound to produce one or two mistakes, but I'm human.

Poll Updated
Posted Thursday, February 15, 2001 by Ogre

The Ogre has finally updated the site poll. Last weeks poll was on what was your favorite scenery in RCT. And the winner from that poll was winter which was no surprise to me. This weeks and next weeks is on What do you think is the best new ride in Loopy Landscapes. So please vote.

Losing Interest in RCT?
Posted Wednesday, February 14, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Ultimate Theme Park Guide (UTPG) has put a new poll up, asking "For those of you who own Roller Coaster Tycoon, do you feel that you are now losing interest?"

This is an interesting poll, and it does make a lot of sense. It's been a while since Loopy Landscapes has been out, and many of us are looking for either another expansion pack or a complete sequel.

Changes
Posted Monday, February 12, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. There have been some personal matters that have come up.

I've just added a new page to the site. It contains 10 of Jared Misner's parks.

One thing you'll see on the site is a number inside a set of parentheses (#) next to the download link to the downloads. We're working on a new script to count how many times that file has been downloaded. This will take a while to implement to all of the pages, so you won't expect to see it on all of them immediately. Jared's page has been given this feature already.

More Saved Games
Posted Saturday, February 10, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Here's four more saved games to check out. They include: ImaginationWorks, Rock Mountain Resort, Sprinkly Gardens, and Virginia's Pride.

I have one note about saved games. When you send in a game, don't expect it to be put on the site immediately. It takes time to put things up, and not all parks will be put on the site.

Posted Thursday, February 8, 2001 by Red Phoenix

The Saved Games Pages have been worked on a little bit. We have separated the "Fantasy Parks" from the "Real Park Recreations". This will make navigation and updating just that much easier.

In addition to making the design changes, I've added two more Real Park Recreations. They include Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Michigan's Adventure.

Mike Robbins' Saved Games
Posted Wednesday, February 7, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Quite an update today for Mike's page. I gave it a slight makeover, so it looks like the other saved game pages. I also took new screenshots, so the preview images are a little more "crisper".

In addition to the minor changes, there are new parks. There were three new parks (Everglade Park, Christmas Wonderland, and Jeri Gardens). There are also new, Loopy Landscapes versions of Riverfront Amusement Park and Virginia Historic Park. They are great downloads.

Chocobogo's Down Forever
Posted Wednesday, February 7, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Just the other day I posted some news concerning Chocobogo's site, saying it would return. It turns out that this is no longer true.

Sim Fever.com, the hopeful host, just posted a link to a statement made by Chocobogo, which says that the site will NOT return.

Statement

Permanently losing the site is a big blow to the RCT community, but it will go on. We've proved that it could when Cav's RCT Depot went down, and I see nothing but good things in the future. I wish Chocobogo the best of luck in the future.

RCT UK??
Posted Saturday, February 3, 2001 by Red Phoenix

I've had a few reports of the site not showing up. StrategyPlanet, their host, seems to be having some technical issues, but the site is there. Instead of the conventional url, go to http://www.strategyplanet.com/rctuk/index.html

I'm sure they'll get it fixed soon.

RCT Coaster Height Chart
Posted Saturday, February 3, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Steve Franks is back to work. We has finally come up with the answer to a question that's been bugging some of us for a while now: How wide are the land grid tiles?

According to a few studies, it's approximately 13.6 feet. This stat has been added to his RCT Coaster Height Chart, which is usually used for creating realistic coasters.
