Are you working on a new hyper coaster, and the intensity is like 16 and no one will ride it? Well, Greg Wolking has finished up a new article to help you with this. Check out the Knowledge Base for the new article "How to Reduce Coaster Intensity and Add Excitement".

I apologize for the relative lack of updates as of late. There are various reasons for this, and I'll get into this soon. Hopefully, I'll write up a little something on the forums this week about the future of RCT Station or the lack thereof, so stay tuned.

Cool Simon is still looking for submissions, and an Interview with Chris Bennett, webmaster of RCTUK soon.

RCTSA has added 12 new tracks and have worked on the site's text colors a bit.

JPark RCT has gotten an easier to remember url (http://www.jparkrct.cjb.net/). Homestead still hasn't fixed his site yet.

RCT Inc has added twenty-two new parks to their site. They would also like future saved games to be "Zipped", since it saves a lot of time downloading/uploading the parks.

Posted Sunday, July 29, 2001 by Red Phoenix

I've updated the links page finally. While it doesn't have every RCT site on it, it is certainly an improvement. It also got a new look. If you want your site on there, go to the forums, and in the Site Advertisements forum, I started a thread there for this.

Navigation
Posted Saturday, July 28, 2001 by Red Phoenix

If you look at the 'Downloads' navigation menu, you will notice a slight change. I've broken up Utilities and Patches. This is because I've expanded the Utilities a lot. There are links to almost every one of the major RCT utilities we've seen, including the RCT Explorer. I also included screenshots for almost all of the utilities, so the page takes a while to load.

RCT Station Contest
Posted Thursday, July 26, 2001 by Red Phoenix

The July contest is almost up. Finish up your entries and get them in to Mike Robbins for judging.

Also, we are finishing up the details for the August contest. To put it simply, this isn't going to be an easy one. This will challenge the best of the RCTers out there. So how good are you? I guess we'll see next month, huh? We will also probably offer an actual prize, which should tell you something. More details on this contest should follow the results of the July contest, so stay tuned!

Tracks are Back
Posted Wednesday, July 25, 2001 by Red Phoenix

It didn't take me as long as I figured to get the track pages completed, so they're back. They got a slight facelift. It will offer more information to the general surfer, plus it will make updating a little easier. One of the features you may notice is the "Date Added" columns. This isn't totally accurate for the tracks that are up already, especially the really old ones, since some of those were up over a year ago. All download links have been tested, however the preview links haven't. If you run into any problems, contact me.

When RCT Explorer is released, I should be able to offer even more information, so that will be wonderful.

Reminders and a Virus Warning
Posted Tuesday, July 24, 2001 by Red Phoenix

The tracks pages may be down for the next couple of days, so don't freak out over it, it's just going to be for maintenance and a general cleaning.

We are also nominated for the Best RCT site award at Danimation, and I would appreciate it if you would vote for us in the poll, which is in their forums.

Fairly recently there was a new virus that has begun to spread. Technically, it's called a worm. It's "W32.Sircam.Worm@mm" or SirCam, for short. It's been recently upgraded to a level 4 worm at SARC, which is pretty serious. I'm not even going to explain how it works, since you can read all about it here. If you think you may be infected with it, please get it removed immediately. If you're not comfortable with going into the registry to remove things, get the free removal tool. Again, if you think you have it, investigate it, because it's bugging the heck out of a lot of us. Ogre and I have been bombarded with copies of the virus through email. In times like this, I must quote Leo Laporte of TechTV, "Do NOT open attachments".

Track Element Animations
Posted Wednesday, July 18, 2001 by Red Phoenix

This is the biggest update to the site we'll in quite a while in my view. Have you ever had trouble figuring out how to make a Boomerang on one of your new coasters? Have you ever wondered how to make a Heartline Flip? Have you ever wondered how to make an Immelman? Chances are you've had problems making them at some point in your coaster-building experiences. Danimation and RCT Station have decided to work together and get this accomplished. This content was no longer "advertised" on Danimation, and it was time to bring it back to everyone's attention. This will benefit both sites. There are 20+ animations in our Knowledge Base. We will hopefully have more in the future, because we haven't covered them all, unfortunately.

Before you go check them out, a word of warning. If you're on a modem, be patient while the animation loads. They are all under 135kb in size, so they're not too bad.

Also, Dan Simpson and I have updated the Rollercoaster Tycoon Strategy Guide to version 6.6. I haven't updated the version on RCT Station yet, so I suggest you grab the latest copy at GameFAQs.

One Year Later
Posted Friday, July 13, 2001 by Red Phoenix

When I was posting the previous news for the day, I realized it was the 13th of July. Not only is it Friday the 13th, but it's been one year since I took over RCT Station from Ogre.

Since this day last year, it's literally been one heck of a rollercoaster ride. Running a site never comes without its problems, and those seem to be more memorable than the success of the site. I've taken what used to be a site of only a few pages when Ogre ran it into one of the most well-known RCT fan sites around. I must admit that I haven't done it all by myself, as I've got several staff members whom have put in a lot of work in churning out new coasters/parks and keeping the forums in check.

You may have noticed that there hasn't been a whole lot in terms of updates this week. Unfortunately, I've only got two arms and I'm only one person, so I'm unable to do the amount of work I'd like to. Since it has been one year of my "taking over" of RCT Station, we will be unveiling a different design sometime in the next few weeks. It's shaping up well thus far. Due to this work, updates have been and will continue to be only once in a while, but I'll try to get some new stuff in soon. Hopefully, I'll be able to get a park or two ready.

On behalf of RCT Station, thank you for your support in keeping the site going. We appreciate every comment, page view, and submission from you folks. I'm hoping to be posting a similar message in another year. Hopefully, Chris Sawyer will at least have begun work on Rollercoaster Tycoon 2.

Doing this much work wouldn't make much sense if I didn't add new articles, would it? So, there are some new ones that I suggest that you check out. There are a total of four new articles. Additional articles are on the way.

We really figured we had the forums ready to go, but it turns out that we ended up spending nearly half of today working on them as well. Goes to show you that technology can be a good thing, but it can also truely be a major pain.

JPark RCT has added a new competition to the site. They've also added Titan to the Real Coasters section.

RCT Xtra has interviewed Carrie Holsinger from Tycoon Resource. They're also looking for submissions.

Skeg's RCT Park had added two new feature parks, four new parks to the park vault, an intense coaster, a completed scenario, a new competition, and a new park project screenshot. Wow, lots and lots of stuff going on over there!

Tycoon Resource has added six new parks, three new scenarios, eleven new rollercoaster tracks, three new water ride tracks, and four new gentle/thrill ride tracks to the site.

RCT Inc. Humblegrove Rivers, an Excusive Rights park, has finally arrived to the site. There are also a few other ER parks on the site. There are some "Work in Progress" photos on the site, plus the competition is over now, and results should be up soon.

Update
Posted Monday, July 2, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Updates have been few and spread apart. This is because I've been working on a lot of changes for the site, and they will be unveiled sometime in the next 1-2 weeks if all things go well. The changes are part of a process to make the site more update-friendly, so to speak. It will take a while before everything works out to how I want it.

Updates have been coming in in bunches this past week for some reason. I've received oodles of stuff. This goes back to getting the site more update-friendly, so I can update things easier and quicker, since you don't seem to run out of ideas for parks/coasters.

Well, just to give you a little something new, I've uploaded a new Loopy Landscapes Fantasy Park, Ocean Park.

One of the complaints I've been getting is the emphasis on Loopy Landscapes saved games. Well, I'd love to put more of the Corkscrew Follies parks up as well as things for the original RCT, but there's the problem with supply. No one really seems to send in that stuff anymore. About 95% of the parks I get are for Loopy Landscapes. If you have things for earlier versions of RCT, please send them in.
