Spring Cleaning
Posted Friday, March 30, 2001 by Red Phoenix

If you haven't noticed, there's been a lot of updates the past few days. I'm doing some spring cleaning on my hard drive, and space is at a premium right now, so Rollercoaster Tycoon stuff is finding its way to the site now.

Along with the many, many new tracks that Ogre's uploaded for you, I've just added four new CF/AA Fantasy Parks. As always, the new saved games have the image next to the parks name. This allows the new parks to be spotted much more easily.

Be sure to check out the site on a regular basis. There's usually some sort of update every day. Steve Franks will be releasing a new Real World Track Pack soon, so be sure to check back for that.

Huge Update To Track Files
Posted Friday, March 30, 2001 by Ogre

Ogre has made one huge update to the track files section of the site. He added more than 80 files to it. There are now five pages of just wooden coasters alone! Plus tons of bobsleds and heartline coasters for your download pleasure. So please check out the track files downloads section.

With both contests taken care of, it's time to get back to the regular updates. I've just uploaded two more Loopy Landscapes Fantasy Parks. One's called Futura Gardens, and the other is Oakwood Amusement Park.

March - April Contest
Posted Wednesday, March 28, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Due to the things that happened in the last contest, it seemed obvious that it would be a good idea to get a new contest out the door as soon as possible. Phil handled the February contest, and it really didn't turn out too well, but things happen. Mike Robbins will be running the March-April contest, yes, two months. We're giving you a little extra time, but NOT two whole months.

The full details on the next contest are up. I've also archived Madman's park, so it's still available. There's a link to it on the contest page as well.

Good luck to you all!

Updates To Track Files
Posted Monday, March 26, 2001 by Ogre

Ogre has just finished with a few updates to the track files section of the site. Several new categories of rides have been added. However all coaster submissions will be posted in the next few days since there are so many of them. It is taking the Ogre awhile to go through all of them.

Contest Results
Posted Sunday, March 25, 2001 by Red Phoenix

The contest results from the February contest are finally up. Yes, that's right, February. I know it sounds horrible, but the results were delayed due to things outside of my control.

With that being said, RCT Station would like to say congratulations to Victor Davis (Madman) for submitting the winning park.

Due to the delays, we cannot put any 'runner-ups' on the contest page, but I'll see if I can get some of them on the saved games pages as soon as time permits.

There will be another contest announced in a few days. I will be assigning a different person for handling the contest, so the problems will not happen again.

Posted Friday, March 23, 2001 by Red Phoenix

I've just added another Real Park Recreation. It's Sauzer's Kiddieland, which turned out to be a very small park. If you have any suggestions for this park, email the park's creator, as he was unable to remember everything for the park.

Also, the submissions page was updated. When you submit a park, it would also be appreciated if you told me which version of RCT you used.

Aeroplane Coaster @ Playland
Posted Thursday, March 22, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Since it's Thursday, here's another Real World Track Pack from Steve Franks. This week features Aeroplane Coaster @ Playland. Steve Franks said he's ran the track in a park for 14 game years, and it's handled over 14,000 people, and it hasn't crashed yet! That sounds like one heck of a reliable coaster. You can check out this Track Pack as well as his many others at the link below.

Posted Thursday, March 22, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Tycoon Resource has been working on some updates on their site. As you've probably read below, Carrie returned from her vacation the other day, and it's catch-up time now. There have been some new parks added so far, and there are many more to come, as well as tons of track files.

Chris Sawyer has updated his site once again. Wow, lots of updates in the last month or so. Anyway, he has added a new Feature called Roller coaster books: Chris Sawyer's top 20. In the article, he reviews his favorite 20 books relating to roller coasters. I suggest you go check it out.

Thanks to Carrie at Tycoon Resource for passing along the information.

Forums
Posted Wednesday, March 21, 2001 by Red Phoenix

After working on the forums for four hours, I was able to fix and restore most of the posts and topics. The main problem you'll see on the forums will be the counter at the top of the page on the forums. It counts posts and topics, but it's really out of whack right now. Hopefully, Railwolf can fix that for us soon.

Also, the server has messed up some of the profiles. If you cannot login, either contact me, or sign up with another name.

More Saved Games
Posted Tuesday, March 20, 2001 by Red Phoenix

In an attempt to get the server problems out of my mind, I worked on some saved games. There is one Real Park Recreation, three Corkscrew Follies/Added Attractions Fantasy Parks, and four Loopy Landscapes Fantasy Parks, which make eight new saved games.

Also, I've added a new little thing for those of you who have trouble navigating the saved games. I've added a image next to the parks that are new during that update. This isn't a perfect solution, but it will work for now.

Server Problems
Posted Monday, March 19, 2001 by Red Phoenix

You may see some problems with the server. We're considering moving the network to a new server, since the current one has been somewhat unreliable from time to time.

Due to the server problems, the Forums are messed up. Until we get everything straightened out, we'd appreciate if you'd refrain from using them. I'll keep you posted on this problem.

Guess The Ride
Posted Monday, March 19, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Similar to Danimation's Guess The Coaster, Mike Robbins will be posting an image of a ride, and you have to figure what it is. It won't always be a coaster, hence the term 'ride'.

Ride Capacity Guide
Posted Saturday, March 17, 2001 by Red Phoenix

There's a new article to the Article database. This one covers the various ride capacities you'll encounter.

Here's a clip:

This chart will show the ride capacities of the tracked rides in RollerCoaster Tycoon. It is broken down by ride type, length of station platforms, type of vehicles on the ride. If the ride allows more than 1 mode of operation, then shuttle mode, powered launch mode, or reverse incline mode only allow 1 train, and it can be up to the length of the longest train listed for that station length. Please note that if it shows that you can do more than 1 train, you can always do fewer than the listed number of trains. The chart just shows the maximum numbers for the stock rides. It is possible to use trainers to bypass the limits in this chart, or to use different ride vehicles than the ride normally allows, but this chart only shows the values available without using trainers.

RCTUK Updates
Posted Friday, March 16, 2001 by Red Phoenix

It's great to see that Rollercoaster Tycoon UK (RCTUK) has updated once again. They have a new competition. You must build the Best Steel Mini Coaster you can in a 15x15 grid.

Also, Chris Bennett has added five new saved games to the site. It seems that RCTUK is starting to get back to its old self in a way.

Counter Testing

Voice Your Opinion
Posted Sunday, March 11, 2001 by Red Phoenix

On the message boards, I've started a thread asking for your input for changes on the site. What would you like to see new and/or improved on the site? I do have certain plans for the site, but the site is here for you, the RCT and Coaster fans, so it's your turn to voice your opinion.

You can find my thread on the 'Site Suggestions' forum on the message boards.

Forum Problems
Posted Friday, March 9, 2001 by Red Phoenix

You may have noticed that the forums were a little messed up. Well, the forums have some sort of bug in it, and you need to be aware of this. If you go to a page in the forums, and it doesn't show up, don't refresh the page. Just go to the main forum page.

Organization
Posted Friday, March 9, 2001 by Red Phoenix

I just finished up a major project in my eyes. It wasn't difficult, just time consuming. I've categorized the Real Parks and Fantasy Parks by the version of RCT required to view them. The Real Parks use a simple graphic that says what version it's for. The Fantasy Parks, however, have been separated into separate pages.

In the middle of this, there have been a lot of changing links, so if you see a mistake, notify me via email as soon as possible, and I'll see what I can do.

Ultimate Theme Park Guide closes...
Posted Saturday, March 3, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Ultimate Theme Park Guide will be shutting down. This is very unfortunate news, as this was a tremendous site covering all aspects of the real world of coasters and amusement parks.

There is one good note on this topic. Brian Grapes, the webmaster of UTPG, has started a new site. It's called SFMW Online. It covers Six Flags Marine World. I wish Brian the best of luck with the new site.

Track Packs
Posted Thursday, March 1, 2001 by Red Phoenix

To kick off March with a bang, there's been a big update. We have just released Batwing @ 6 Flags America. Steve Franks worked on Batwing and Stealth (released last week) at the same time, since they are identical for most of the track.

You'll also see that the Track Packs pages have been changed a little bit. This allowed for the addition of some of Mike Robbins' Track Packs. His aren't to be confused with Steve's work, as Mikes packs are separate track packs that have something in common with one another. You'll see what I mean once you see them. Mike's released both a Compact Track Pack and a Woody Track Pack. Hopefully, an Inverted Track Pack will find its home on the pages.
