RCT Gold
Posted Friday, March 29, 2002 by Red Phoenix

There have been reports of a new RollerCoaster Tycoon title in the works, and it was even pointed out recently on the Amazon and EB websites. I've been able to confirm that this game is not a sequel or expansion pack, but rather a bundled package. It will consist of the Original RollerCoaster Tycoon, the Corkscrew Follies/Added Attractions expansion pack, and the Loopy Landscapes expansion pack.

This packaging technique isn't something new in the gaming entertainment. Just released a few months ago, Ensemble Studios and Microsoft packaged the AoEII: Age of Kings along with The Conquerers expansion pack to form a "Gold Edition".

Community News
Posted Sunday, March 17, 2002 by Red Phoenix

The community news has begun to flow in once again. I almost missed it all. Just remember to include the RCT Station mini-button (found along the right-side of the site).

Community News Notice
Posted Friday, March 15, 2002 by Red Phoenix

Those of you who run RollerCoaster Tycoon or coaster sites may have noticed that the community news mailer has been down for a while now. The community news page is back in full-force. It's been tested and works very well.

I'll update the community news (like usual) this weekend, so stay tuned.
.
Track Files
Posted Friday, March 15, 2002 by Red Phoenix

As promised, the tracks section is up and running on the site. There are a number of options in which you can check out, such as sorting, rating, downloading (obviously), and emailing the file to others.

I know that the biggest complaint is with the size of the screenshots for each track, so all I'll say in regards to that is be thankful you have that. There's no telling how much longer it would have taken to take new screenshots for all of the old tracks. The screenshots will eventually get larger, but this will do for the time being.

In addition to launching the tracks, I just added twelve new tracks for the Flying coasters section.

The track backlog is still present, so keep that in mind if you submit tracks - it will take a long time to get your stuff added.

Coming Very Soon...
Posted Thursday, March 14, 2002 by Red Phoenix

This week has certainly had a lack of updates as you've noticed. It's really due to a number of things, and only one of those should be of any concern to you. Chances are, when the site's not seeing updates, I'm working on something that's consuming all of my time. Stay tuned because the track section is on its way back, after a vacation of over a year.

Old West Mini Park
Posted Tuesday, March 12, 2002 by Red Phoenix

Mike Robbins' latest park, Old West Mini Park, has just been reviewed by Ogre and is now up and ready for downloading. Be sure to drop by, check it out, and give Mike some feedback.

Also, continue with the vote for the new poll. This is very well looking like it will become a new feature somewhere down the road, but I'd like to see how many people would actually use it.
.
Chocobogo Update
Posted Tuesday, March 12, 2002 by Red Phoenix

While this isn't my usual community news update, I was involved with another site's update. Thanks to me, Chocobogo's RCT was able to add well over 100 parks this week, which all come from the old site. If you missed downloading any of the content from the old site, you can grab a lot of it right now. Drop by their forums as well. I'm sure a few extra board members couldn't hurt.
.

Posted Monday, March 11, 2002 by Red Phoenix

Would you like to rate eachother's saved games? What do you think? Vote in the poll, because this very well could be a new addition to the site during the next few weeks.

    Spotlight
Posted Wednesday, March 6, 2002 by Red Phoenix

In less than a weeks time, there has been yet another new spotlight chosen. The latest winner was Traveller's Tales, which was made by Chris Gray.

Come and encounter the different trails and paths of this natural thrill park. The park is buried in a deep secluded forest. Walk into the park only to see a new environment like a mini city. First, you might want to take a run on the "Grizzly." As one of 2 wooden coasters in the park, this coaster's track is mostly over water. It also contains tunnels, theming and more. Take a walk into Holly Forest to find one of the premier coasters, Shooting Star. Similar to Arrow's Magnum XL 200, the coaster lifts you up 200 feet and drops at speeds of 70 mph. Don't forget that great sensation called Airtime!

    Bob Hooley Parks
Posted Wednesday, March 6, 2002 by Red Phoenix

Bob Hooley's latest park, Seaside Boardwalk and Pier seems to have gotten misplaced for a while, so it took a while to find it. Bob will have another one ready soon I'm sure.

    Cannonball!
Posted Monday, March 4, 2002 by Red Phoenix

Who's ever screamed that at a city pool? How about at an amusement park? Perhaps not as many people have screamed it there. Steve Franks has finished up his recreation of Lake Winnepesaukah's Cannonball, an impressive wooden coaster. You can see it here.

Tycoon Resource has started a new contest in which the winner will win a free copy of Monopoly Tycoon. They have also added six new parks and four new coasters.

Chocobogo's RCT has been relaunched on Tycoon Planet. Plagued by server problems, Chocobogo's RCT site has been opened and closed a number of times. They have lost their content this time, and are in need of it.

RCT Inc has added this month's people's spotlight voting. Drop by and check it out.

    Server Downtime
Posted Saturday, March 2, 2002 by Red Phoenix

During the next 48 hours, there will be a period of time when the site will be down, so don't be shocked. Our host is switching out the current servers with some newer, faster ones, a fair trade-off if you ask me.

    Attractions
Posted Saturday, March 2, 2002 by Red Phoenix

On Friday, I added the improved attractions page. The huge, fully detailed version won't be up for sometime, so this was better than nothing.

    Delay
Posted Friday, March 1, 2002 by Red Phoenix

Sorry for the delay in updates, but things will resume normal updates this weekend hopefully. Unlike February, March is a longer month, so delaying the contest a couple of days will not hurt according to my calculations.
