Happy Halloween
Posted Wednesday, October 31, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Happy Halloween, folks. I don't have anything special planned for the site today; it's just another day as far as I'm concerned. I did, however, add a few new Loopy Landscapes Fantasy Saved Games to the site. Included in that is a Halloween-themed park from Rob Tonto.

Finished Scenarios
Posted Tuesday, October 30, 2001 by Red Phoenix

When re-installing RCT, you may have accidentally removed your scenario progress files. That's happened to many, many people, including myself. You may also just be stuck on a particular scenario, and you really want to get to the next scenario. In either event, RCT Station is here to help you out with that delemna. Not all scenarios are up yet, since the section isn't complete offline and it will keep you coming back for more. You can see them here.

Chat Room
Posted Sunday, October 28, 2001 by Red Phoenix

As Dantheman posted on the forums, it's a warning that the chat room will no longer be provided for RCT Station. I've decided to pull the plug on it. December 31st is the final day, so enjoy it while you can, folks.

Wish List
Posted Saturday, October 27, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Two weeks ago, I added the wish list feature to the site, in hopes of giving Chris Sawyer some insight on what we'd like in RCT 2. Well, after tons and tons of submissions, I've uploaded the latest version of the wish list.

Contest Reminder
Posted Friday, October 26, 2001 by Red Phoenix

The October contest is almost finished. If you've not submitted an entry, you had better get working on one. You've got less than a week left for the contest.

I still don't have the August-Sept. results from Water Monkey, so if you're out there, WM, contact me about this.

In a related note, Doctor J has offered to create an actual SC4 file for the winning scenario for the October contest. You can read about this in this thread.

Problem with glimmer
Posted Friday, October 26, 2001 by BLĄde

DOH that's what I get for not testing my scenarios properly. Especially if I used a map from Henry's old editor it appears when you edit the map with SGM it makes a border appear all the way around your park border INCLUDING the entrance stopping peeps from entering the park! Well gateway to glimmer had this problem but it has been fixed now so if you downloaded gateway to glimmer delete it and re-download it again. Thanks for reporting that problem I know what to look for now in the future. :D

    Track Pack
Posted Thursday, October 25, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Steve Franks has recently finished up a new version of his Pleasure Beach Wild Mouse. If you remember, it used to be part of his larger pack which included several Mouse coasters, but this update was so big that Steve felt it deserved its own pack. You can check it out right here.

I found a new utility that I haven't noticed before. Apparently it's a Track Viewer and Editor. It's in beta form, so there are obviously problems with it, but I figured a few of you may want to check this one out!

    Skeg's RCT Closes
Posted Monday, October 22, 2001 by Red Phoenix

For the past week or so I've been in contact with Skeg, as I knew that MGON's hardware for Tycoon Resource has really been horrible for the past 4 months from what I've seen. She's asked for this to be placed here:

Sadly, Skeg's RCT Park is no more. There are two reasons for this.

Firstly, as you will be aware, my hosts at Tycoon Resource have been experiencing 'technical difficulties' for almost a month now, resulting in the site being down. Whilst I appreciate the unlimited space and bandwidth that they've given me for free, it's rather difficult to build a successful website when nobody can view it. An email from them letting me know what was happening would have been nice. I stopped asking them what was going on long ago, as none of them seem to want to know about the hosted sites anymore. The fact that (according to their website) they are 'considering the future of the hosted sites', but haven't even bothered to email the hosted sites directly says it all.

Secondly, as the site grew, I found that I was spending more and more time keeping it updated, rather than actually playing the game!

If you run your own RCT site and would like to include any of my non park or track content, such as the guides or the coaster history section then email me at skeg.rct@virgin.net and I'll consider it. I'd also appreciate it if you could post this. I've considered moving the site to another server, but with over 150Mb of parks and tracks, it isn't really worth it. Please note if you wish to use any parks, tracks or other content that are not by me, then you should approach their designers for permission to put them on your site.

The forum and email list will continue whilst there is still interest. You can visit the forum at http://pub29.ezboard.com/bskegsrctpark and the address for the email list webpage is http://www.egroups.com/groups/SkegRCT

My new parks (including a new one called Moon Bay and a four-part park done with the Kings) will be appearing alongside the King's great parks on their excellent site at http://mommadragon.freeservers.com/index.htm

Finally, thank you for being a part of Skeg's RCT Park. I hope you've enjoyed visiting it as much as I've enjoyed doing it!

On behalf of RCT Station, I'd like to wish her the best of luck in her future adventures. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end.

    New Poll and Results
Posted Monday, October 22, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Last week, we asked you "Which of the following games deserves a fan site the most?".

    Tropico (58 votes) 36.02%
Star Wars: GB (35 votes) 21.74%
Rails Across America (8 votes) 4.97%
Railroad Tycoon II (60 votes) 37.27%

I was a little surprised to see RRT II win, since it's fairly "old". You will see another similar poll again.

We're now asking you "Chris Sawyer will announce development on RCT 2 in...".

My reasoning for this was simple. I did some quick checking on one of the biggest selling PC game series around, Civilization. Civ 2 was shipped in 1996. Only NOW is Sid Meier getting Civ 3 out the doors and into the public's hand. That's 5-6 years between sequels, folks...a very long time. Will Chris Sawyer pull the same thing? Let us know by voting in the new poll!

    Coming Soon...
Posted Sunday, October 21, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Things have been crazy over here lately.

I've been trying to improve RCT Station quite a bit with not only work on the site directly, but with chatting with a few people on improving the site. I hope we can get a few of those people to help out, as the time it takes to maintain and update not only RCT Station, but the entire network is insane, plus I'll be helping work on Train Sim Station, as it's desperate for something new.

This week, I'm going to put up a bunch of new saved games. The tracks section is currently being worked on, just so everyone knows. We hope to have it up and running once again sometime within the next week or two.

I'm still waiting on the results of the previous contest, just as all you are. I hope to hear from Water Monkey soon about this, because this is getting at me now.

    Bob Hooley's Saved Games
Posted Friday, October 19, 2001 by Red Phoenix

I'm sure many of you have never heard of Bob, but I've crossed paths with him on the AOL RCT boards...back in the good 'ol days. I've decided to give him a place to showcase all of his old parks, since he only puts the most recent one on his AOL site. You can now find nearly 30 parks here at RCT Station by Bob. Take some time and take a peek at them.

    New Contest and another note
Posted Monday, October 15, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Unfortunately, the judging of the August-September is going MUCH slower than planned. It's affecting the release of the new Halloween Contest. It is up now, so get working on the new one, which is very short, BTW. I'll add the results of the August-September contest as soon as I get them from Water Monkey.

Go over to Tycoon Planet and vote in their forums for the awards program they're running. Actual voting for the winners will start on Friday/Saturday. This is set up similar to how Danimation did it...nominate the sites, then vote for the winner.

    Old Forest Lake Park
Posted Friday, October 12, 2001 by Red Phoenix

Mike Robbins' latest park, Old Forest Lake Park, has been added to the site. You can read Ogre's positive review there as well.

While in last weekend's chat room gathering, I said I'd be putting new parks up this week. Unfortunately, that really didn't happen how I wanted it to, but we will get something else up "soon".

Many of you are anxiously awaiting the results of the last contest. Water Monkey is still working on those. Once he's tested and graded the top 5, and sent them to me, I'll put them up as soon as I can, so be patient. A new contest will be unveiled VERY soon, and it may even be before the other contest results are up, since it's taking so long and disrupting plans.

Our very own Ogre was chosen to be the first one. For the bio, and even a picture of what he looks like, go here.

Well, those are in storage at the moment, and we do have a new section done by our very own Steve Franks. It's a collection of sound file replacements for the Carousel. There will be a number of these to come, as you can see by the page, so stay tuned. The first one is up right now, and we will add another every couple of days, as a regular update.

    What's going on?
Posted Wednesday, October 3, 2001 by Red Phoenix

This week was intended to be dedicated to clearing my backlog of saved games, and it just isn't working. We've got far too much stuff going on right now, so updates will just be like normal, whenever I get time. There will be lots of additions as soon as I can find time.

Survivor II rules should be up later today...been a tough week.

I have a quick update for community news:

RCT Inc is looking for people to visit their site and vote for their favorite spotlight park.

The RCT Depot will be closing the RCTD Thrill and Park company for the next few months to work on a recreation of Cedar Point. There is also a new contest up. They're also looking for submissions.

RCT Paradise has added a few new staff members and two new parks.
