Ogre's Working On The RCT2 Section
Posted Wednesday, October 30, 2002 by Ogre

Well RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 has been out for a little while now. We at RCT Station don't have much in the way of game information on the title at the moment, but that is about to change. Ogre is working toward getting this section done soon. He hopes to have it complete sometime next week.

Lack of Updates

I apologize for the lack of updates during the past week. I have been without internet access for the better part of the past week.

.
RCT 2sday Update
Posted Wednesday, October 23, 2002 by Red Phoenix

The official site released some classic scenarios from RollerCoaster Tycoon, updated for RCT 2. This is a fairly lame official update if you want my opinion. Former RCT Station staff member, XuXus Petals (dakinle) was already hard at work bringing back the scenarios.

Ogre's Network Reviews Airline Tycoon Evolution
Posted Thursday, October 17, 2002 by Red Phoenix

Ogre's Network editor Jim (Red Phoenix) Chamberlin takes a look at Airline Tycoon Evolution. Here is a snippet:

"ATE is definitely not a game for veteran sim gamers. Its gameplay is far too repetitive. The new scenarios, the new security systems, and the new plane editor all are excellent additions. When I checked out the official site, there were over 2500 downloadable planes to choose from. Unfortunately, there were no download links, just statistics for each plane. If you want to download them, you have to start the game and use the in-game interface for this, which I think is absolutely stupid."

Ogre's Network Reviews Prince of Qin
Posted Tuesday, October 15, 2002 by Ogre

Ogre's Network editor Eric (Ogre) Lizotte takes a look at Prince of Qin from Object Software and Strategy First. Here is a snippet:

"To me Prince of Qin is an interesting and involving role-playing game that brings a bit of fresh air to the genre. Unlike most other RPG titles, this one is not set in some fantasy world, but instead in ancient China during the end of the Qin dynasty. In fact, you almost could consider it a history lesson in some ways. Though a fun history lesson at that!"

Ogre's Network Reviews Empire Earth: The Art of Conquest
Posted Sunday, October 13, 2002 by Ogre

Ogre's Network editor Jim (Red Phoenix) Chamberlin takes a look at the expansion pack to Empire Earth, Empire Earth: The Art of Conquest. Here is a little snippet:

"While Art of Conquest wonít go down as the greatest add-on ever, itís worthwhile to EE fans. Personally, I would have liked to see an additional epoch and units. It didnít really feel like a full expansion pack."

Contest Results
Posted Sunday, October 13, 2002 by Red Phoenix

The August-September contest results have been posted. Rob Tonto, the judge of the competition, has included park maps and a small review of the top five parks.

I would like to note that the top four finishers submitted their entries within the last 48 hours of time remaining in the contest.

Also, there will not be a contest for October. We're going to start one in November, however.

Some Quick FAQs
Posted Saturday, October 12, 2002 by Red Phoenix

I've received some email and private messages lately that seem to be saying the same thing, so I thought I would clarify them for everyone.

Q: When will you upgrade the site to include additional information for RCT 2?
A: Soon. I've been very busy, working on some freelance writing and a massive update to the tracks database. I'm also awaiting two images from Ogre.

Q: When will the Aug-Sept contest results be announced?
A: Soon, probably tomorrow.

Q: Are you accepting submissions for RCT 2?
A: Yes, all I ask is that you follow the typical submissions guidelines and mention that it's for RCT 2.

Q: I am having problems with the saved games and the track packs, please fix this.
A: Well, it's not a question, but we're working on it. It's hard to find bandwidth for those things.

Official Ride Exchange
Posted Friday, October 11, 2002 by Red Phoenix

As a fan site webmaster, this is sort of depressing to make note of, but the official ride exchange is up, and it's rather impressive. Unfortunately, you must register to upload or download tracks.

RCT 2 Showing Up In Stores
Posted Tuesday, October 8, 2002 by Red Phoenix

There are reports of stores having copies of RollerCoaster Tycoon 2. Initial reports focus around the Michigan and Indiana area of the United States. Target is the primary carrier so far, but this will spread to other stores and states as days go on.

Well why are they getting games, when it's not supposed to be released until the 15th?

This has to do with marketing and distribution. They have a one-week window to ship the product and get the stores to put it on their shelves. This happens with all games. They figure that by the 15th, the majority of the stores will have a shipment of games.
.
New Poll
Posted Tuesday, October 8, 2002 by Red Phoenix

RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 is scheduled for release in the United States next Tuesday, the 15th, and I'm just curious about when you plan on getting it, if at all.

Guide to Leafy Lake
Posted Tuesday, October 8, 2002 by Red Phoenix

I've been working with a few RCT Station staff members, a few of which are no longer with the site, to produce solid guides to the scenarios in RollerCoaster Tycoon. We have the third one posted. You can find the guide on GameFAQs. Other scenarios will follow obviously, but it's going to take a while.

Ogre's Network Reviews Celtic Kings: Rage of War
Posted Monday, October 7, 2002 by Ogre

Ogre's Network reviewer Milo Desilva takes a look at Celtic Kings: Rage of War. Here is a snippet:

"Ironically, I do not feel this game is totally without potential. The variety of items and attributes designed to be of Celtic flavor and the depth of things that the Druid unit can do (by someone more clever and patient than I ) suggest potentially rewarding gameplay. However, I personally found the interface and learning curve too cumbersome for a top tier game."

Zoo Tycoon: Dinosaur Digs Reviewed
Posted Sunday, October 6, 2002 by Red Phoenix

Ogre's Network editor Jim (Red Phoenix) Chamberlin has done up a review on Microsoft and Blue Fang Game's Zoo Tycoon: Dinosaur Digs. Here is a snippet:

"Dinosaur Digs is without question a decent expansion pack. Adding twenty new creatures, several new buildings, fences, scenarios, etc produce a nice expansion pack, which will no doubt help sell the original Zoo Tycoon as well. Gameplay is really the only major problem. Thereís far too much micromanagement in the game for me to really enjoy, but the kiddies will like it as I said already."

Big RCT 2 Review
Posted Sunday, October 6, 2002 by Red Phoenix

IGN has posted a large review of RollerCoaster Tycoon 2.

One of the things we now finally know is that the old saved games won't work in RCT 2, which is a bit upsetting. Perhaps Henry W. or Doctor J, for example can come up with a converter sometime down the road. We'll just have to see about this.

Ogre's Network Reviews Emperor
Posted Wednesday, October 2, 2002 by Ogre

Ogre's Network editor Jim (Red Phoenix) Chamberlin has given his say on what he things about the latest city-building game. Here is a snippet:

"Veterans of the city-building series will really feel right at home in Emperor. Not a whole lot has changed during the past few years of city-building game development, so it all fits like an old pair of shoes. The concept is simple really- lay out your roads, set up your industries, protect your city, and watch it all bustle. What has changed is the setting. We have picked up our bags and left the Mediterranean completely, and now find ourselves in ancient China."
