Playing Loopy Landscapes
without the CD-ROM

First off, you must have installed
Loopy Landscapes. There's no way to play LL without actually
having the game. You may find it to be a bit of an annoyance
to have to place the Loopy Landscapes CD-ROM in the drive every
time you'd like to play. Fortunately, there's a way around
it.
- Copy all files from the "Data"
folder on the CD-ROM to the "Data" folder where you
installed the game on your hard drive. You can copy the
files with Windows Explorer if you want. However, the important
part is do not overwrite any files that already exist on your
hard drive. That is, when Explorer prompts you before it replaces
an existing file, always answer "No." Otherwise, you
will lose your scenario progress.
- Start the system Registry Editor.
To do this, choose "Run" under the "Start"
menu in Windows. Once the Run prompt comes up, type "regedit"
in the box provided (exclude the quotes).
- In the left-hand pane, navigate
to and select the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Fish
Technology Group\Rollercoaster Tycoon Setup
- In the right-hand pane, you should
see a string value named "SetupPath", which currently
points to the root directory of your CD-ROM drive. Edit
this sting to contain the path to the folder where the game is
installed. If you want, you can copy it from the "Path"
sting value under the same key. Do not alter any other
values under this registry key.
- Close the system's Registry Editor.
That's it, you should now be able to
launch Loopy Landscapes, and it should run normally without requiring
the CD-ROM in the drive.
Finally, this tip may require you to
have LL patched to the latest version (1.20.013) with Hasbro's official
patch. Some folks in the News Group reported that they still required
the CD until they applied that patch.
